BIO
​
Attorney Matías Monges represents U.S. and foreign clients in complex commercial litigation, business and high-end corporate matters.
​
Prior to founding Matías A. Monges & Associates, Matias worked as an Associate Attorney at McConnell Valdés LLC, the largest and leading law firm in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, focusing his practice on corporate law, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation, commercial financing, mortgage law and general corporate, finance and real estate matters. Prior, he clerked to Hon. Edgardo Rivera-García, Associate Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. While in law school, he served as Associate Editor and member of the Board of Directors of the Pontifical Catholic Univesity of Puerto Rico Law Review. He authored a law review article: Government Corruption: Urgency of New Mechanisms for Asset Recovery, 56 Rev. D.P. 125 (2016).

​Mr. Monges took courses in contractual and European private law at the Universität of Salzburg, School of Law (Salzburg, Austria). The exposure to the main features of the European legal system helped him enhance his contractual comparative law skills and obtain an international perspective within today's increasingly globalized economy.

EXPERIENCE
​
Represented an insurance-related education provider in connection with its multi-million dollar strategic investment. The transaction drew on the experience of the firm's intellectual property practice.
​
Served as outside counsel on a variety of intellectual property and trademark issues for an emerging company offering case management software for health providers.
​
Advised a major drug manufacturer on issues related to the importation of pharmaceuticals into the United States.
​
Represented a medical device reseller and distributor in a joint venture with an Israeli company.
​
Project counseling with a general contractor during construction of a $27 million infrastructure project in Puerto Rico.
​
Drafted and negotiated a construction services agreement for a $1.4 million two-phases renovation and expansion at an industrial park in Puerto Rico.
​
Represented a tire distributor in the sale of its business to a private equity buyer.
Served as transactional counsel for a bankruptcy trustee in sale of physician owned medical clinic.
​
Served as transactional counsel in the acquisition of one of the largest distributors of furniture in the United States, for a multi-national corporation headquartered in Spain.


BIO
​
Attorney Elisabet García-Torres has extensive experience in general civil, white-collar crimes and commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Her practice encompasses all phases of litigation. She has also successfully represented clients in products liability, contractual, labor disputes and bankruptcy procedures.
​
Before joining Matias A. Monges & Associates, LLC Elisabet founded and led one of the most successful litigation boutique firms in Puerto Rico. As the natural-born litigator on her own, she focused her practice on general litigation and appellate matters before state and federal courts. Prior, she clerked at the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Court of Appeals. While in law school, she served as Associate Editor and member of the Board of Directors of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico Law Review. She authored various law review articles and publications and has been awarded several recognitions and awards for her outstanding litigation and analytical skills.

​Ms. García holds an LL.M in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods degree from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School, where she graduated with honors and have participated both as speaker and attendant in a wide range of overseas seminars and academic courses. She actively participate in a wide range of pro-bono activities.
